{An Ironic Favorite}

Enjoy a reading by Louis -- no, he's not a baby genius, I've read him this book about a thousand times. It's way beyond favorite status by now. He likes to apply what he's read to real life situations. One never knows when one might need a clever excuse to get one out of trouble!

{Foliage}

It felt good to break out the camera and boot up photoshop again.
All for that special shot...?

And so they could gang up on me and force me down so I could "take my turn" getting buried?
(I got leaves in my britches!!! BRITCHES!)

Love my kiddos. A lot.

{Boring... in a good way}

I'm afraid my posts have been pretty sparse lately. Not a whole lot of "blog worthy" stuff seems to be going on. Which, at first, made me feel a little sad. Like that feeling when hubs comes home from work and tells you about all the interesting people he met and fabulous things he did that day, and all I can come up when he asks me about my day is that I took a shower, herded the kids through the library, and managed to fold all the laundry -- which I'm a little more proud of than I really should be. But the more I think about it, boring is good.

Not really, it is. Stick with me here.

Boring means we have no big news to announce. We're not moving, nobody's sick or hurt, the car hasn't broken down and the water heater didn't spontaneously combust. Boring is good.

So here's a little bit of the "every day" that has been going on.

I started babysitting. Holy cow, these three uber-blond monkeys are a blast. They keep me on my toes, but we have so much fun. The girls are 4 and 2, Lou is 3. I love the crazy looks I get from people when we go out.

It's fall. That means all children (and kitties) are required to play in the giant leaf piles daily. We also are crankin' out the pumpkin nuffins in mass quantities. Mmm... now I know what I'm doing after this post is done. We're also enjoying the Halloween decorations and all accompanying nasty and/or scary teeth. Good times.

Elizabeth has finally finished knitting her fuzzy pink scarf. She also made a matching hat. All together this has been a three year project and she is so proud. It looks so snugly, I totally want one. Maybe she'll get around to it by the time I'm 60.

We did have one boo-boo incident. Caroline slipped and fell in the tub during a post-shower giggle fest. She's such a trooper. Todd is the official taker carer of all emergencies, and while he was driving her to the E.R. she kept saying, "It's an EMERGENCY! It's an EMERGENCY!" over and over and over. Turns out that Bubba's a talker when she gets nervous, she didn't stop her constant chatter the whole time they plastered her chin with glue then gave her two tiny stitches. She was very proud to show me her "whiskers" when they got home. Oh yeah, the next day was picture day at school. Go figure.

I'll tempt you with promises of pictures of a few little projects I've been working on. Let's just say I discovered Todd's stash of spray paints while I helped him clean out the garage. *giggle* I also dusted off ye old sewing machine!

So here's to regular every day boring life! May you have a regular boring day (vs. the major-appliance-spontaneously-combust kind of day).

{Free Stylin}

For you fellow crafty do-it-yourelfer blog stalkers.
Chicky check this out. LOVE that all her ideas cost next to nothing.

Free Stylin

P.S. She calls her diet Dr. Pepper "mom beer". Crafty and funny. I'm in love.
P.P.S. You're welcome.

{So Proud}

Caroline's first self portrait!
I'M SO PROUD!

...and here's the girls doing it together!
I'M SO PROUD!

I hear Louis calling to me, "MOM! Come take my picture!"
...and when I come around the corner he shoots me.
(Insert really spitty shooting noises here.)

Nice princess shoes, Bud.

so... proud?

{Zoobies}

You cannot visit the Tautphaus Park Zoo without taking this picture. Cannot.
Or this one either.
We saw lions,
and tigers,
and zebras....?
Hmmm... oh, there's our bear. Oh my!
Lovin' Maren's penguin walk...
We saw the super stinky flamingos that make Aly gag,
and camels (Watch out! They spit!),
and we learned that persnickety zoo peacocks like Cheezits, but not plain 'ole bread or Ritz crackers.
We paid real money to feed goats, even though we do it every day in our back yard.

We posed as Mother Hen,
Like Lou's new smirk face?
We saw everything our little zoo had to offer, and generally had a zoorific good time.
Three cheers for Laura, who had a charged battery for her camera when I did not. She did a wonderful job with the photos, don't you think?

{We've been adopted}

This sweet little stray kitty has adopted us! She definitely didn't do a background check, because we've never had a "real" pet before -- only fishies and a hermit crab (we found Mr. Crabs on the beach in Puerto Rico, than Santa brought him back to Utah for us). In fact, I'm thirty years old and I've never had a "real" pet, either. Sad, but true. Maybe Cookie can be my therapy kitty.

We talked Todd into letting us keep her, and she is totally spoiled. Caroline spends every waking moment she's not at school torturing *ahem* I mean loving up Cookie.

And whenever she manages to escape Caroline, Elizabeth is there to rescue her. I'm not sure who's more in love.

She swears Cookie LOVES to swing.

Cookie is an outside kitty (I want a mouser!), but that doesn't stop Caroline from giving her a little peek inside at what's she's missing.
